This assignment was presented at the beginning of year 3 and needed to be completed according to the Levittown building code. The project ran into issues including matching the context of the neighborhood, capturing natural light, and maintaining client privacy between the two buildings. The end result is two identical homes that work together successfully on the small plot.
This intensive project encompassed two semesters in an ambitious idea to create a Veteran's service center and business incubator on a vacant lot in Levittown. Fellow students exchanged narratives which dictated specific functions, building shape, and design. Using the Hempstead BZO, Levittown town code, and a PUD overlay, this project quickly took shape and gave an enormous sense of pride due to the work involved. Several ARCH D sheets and a 1:40 scale model became the final presentation for this assignment.
